#33 Sipping n’ Painting – Denver’s 90 Days of Summer #denver
One of the many works at Sipping n' Painting
The Lower Highlands neighborhood is already a top pick in Denver for great location, food and urban homes. And now it’s even more complete with the addition of a painting studio open to ALL people! Creativity is the theme of an evening at Sipping n’ Painting in Lohi. Artist or not you are invited to spend a few hours painting and sipping wine – don’t worry if you’ve never painted before, you’ll get step-by-step instructions. Sipping n’ Painting offers a ‘featured’ painting each night and guided instruction so that participants can create a work of art of their very own. Canvas, paints, brushes and aprons are all provided and once you’re finished you get to keep your masterpiece. Painters are also encouraged to paint what reflects their own tastes so if you have a different vision then you can paint that instead.
The atmosphere is relaxed with music and a good amount of time is given to work through each instructed step. The instructor will take a few minutes to demonstrate the step and then turn up the tunes and give time for each person to sip n’ paint. It’s great fun, even if you have no experience painting and it takes about 2 hours. Advance reservations are recommended and the studio is open at 6 PM Thursday and Friday and 4 PM on Saturday. The cost for the class, supplies and a glass of wine is $40 – what a steal for a unique evening. Please visit their website for the calendar of featured paints for each night and all the other important details for your night of fun.

#32 Renaissance Festival – Denver’s 90 Days of Summer #denver
Head down to Larkspur for the Colorado Renaissance Festival which is happening every weekend through August 1st. If you haven’t been to this unusual event, you really should go check it out. There are plenty of activities going on such as jousting, knife juggling, acrobatics, hypnotists and lots of comedy! I really enjoyed the jousting competitions and be sure not to miss “Puke and Snot”. They’ve been performing at the Renaissance Festival for many years. They’re incredibly obnoxious and always a lot of fun! You will also have your own opportunity to joust, juggle and there are more competition events that you can compete in. And if any of your friends are being too obnoxious you can have them place in the stocks for a while!
Everyone working the fair is in full renaissance costume and many attendees as well so the people watching is hard to beat. Come hungry because there is plenty of great food and beer! Each weekend has a different theme so check out the website and plan accordingly.

#31 Wednesday Salsa Social – Denver’s 90 Days of Summer #Denver
Photo: Destinys Agent's
Ever want to learn salsa dancing or want to practice the dance skills you already have? Well spend a Denver summer night at the Denver Turnverein for the Wednesday Salsa Social, starting at 7:00 PM hosted by Salsa Center Denver. The first hour has classes for beginners and intermediate salsa dancers to practice footwork, technique and partnering. As the rest of the evening is an open dance floor to perfect your skills with others in the dance community.
A loft buyer of mine that relocated to Denver last year swears that you meet great Denver people and have a lot of fun doing it at the Wednesday Salsa Social. She also swears that you don’t have to have any dance experience at all to have a good time and you will pick up some new dance moves. That’s all I needed to hear, I’ll be there this Wednesday night testing out my salsa skills.

#28 Tour de B-Cycle – Denver’s 90 Days of Summer #denver
B-Cycle station at Louisiana and Pearl St.
Have you checked out B-Cycle yet? B-Cycle is a bike sharing program that offers you the opportunity to have a bike to ride when you need it and it’s gone when you don’t! The Denver B-Cycle program kicked off April of this year and, as of June 1st, there are 42 stations throughout the Denver area including downtown, Cherry Creek, Highlands, and Wash Park. It’s a great opportunity for you to use a bike for an hour, a day or maybe the weekend…whatever works best for you. Of course, there are a few rules and it does cost a little money so be sure to visit the website prior to going to get your bike.
Once you’re familiar with the B-Cycle program, I recommend signing up for the Tour de B-Cycle! This is a challenge to visit all 42 B-Cycle stops in one day. You must check in at all stops and the rides between stops must be less than 30 minutes. Think you’re up for the challenge, click here! Besides a fun day riding around Denver, you’ll get a cool t-shirt and your name on the website. Good luck!
